Ramadan: Oyo Fiban To Honour Gbenga Adeboye, Toba Opaleye, Other Late Veterans

Freelance and Independent Broadcasters Association of Nigeria (FIBAN) Oyo State Chapter has lined up double lectures to celebrate the 2021 Ramadan fast and another public lecture to commemorate their National Day celebration, both scheduled for Thursday 29th and Friday 30th April 2021 respectively.

According to the Chairman of the association in Oyo State, Pastor Oluseun Awodele, the topic of the Ramadan lecture will be: "Unity in Diversity and Religious Tolerance as Taught by Holy Prophet Mohammed SAW,' slated for 10:00am at Jogor Centre, Opposite Liberty Stadium Ibadan.

Pastor Awodele stressed that the lecture will be delivered by a popular Islamic cleric, Alh. Uthman Sannu Sheu from Ilorin.

He stressed that another lecture titled “The Role of Broadcasters in Political and Electoral Development of Nigeria slated for the Yinka Ayefele click here Music House, Challenge Ibadan, by 10:00 am is to be delivered by Barr. Mutiu Agboke, Oyo State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Independent Electoral Commission ”. with the second Lecture titled: “Broadcasters and the Culture of Peace” to be delivered by Hon. Femi Adebisi JP.

Awodele declared that the lecture was designed to remember the departed heroes of the association including late Prince Gbenga Adeboye, late Chief Toba Opaleye and late Chief Kola Olawuyi among others, saying, "we want to celebrate and remember our past heroes in the freelance broadcasting in Nigeria and reach-out to their various families with our widow’s mite so they don’t feel neglected."

Awodele listed dignitaries expected at the events include the Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism in Oyo State, Dr Wasiu Olatubosun, owner of Fresh FM Nigeria, Dr Yinka Ayefele, the Publisher of Parrot Xtra Magazine, Olayinka Agboola, Amb. Romoke Ayinde (Kayrom Lee) among others.

He added that the events are lined up to appreciate Allah in the holy month for his protections over the members and to celebrate the past heroes of the association that are the founding members of FIBAN in Nigeria, Awodele said.
